There are many groups and organizations that are trying to understand the complete matter.
Autism Society Of America
The goal of the autism society of America is to raise awareness regarding autism and to improve the lives of those affected by autism. The latest report according to the society states that 1 in every 150 children are affected by the disorder. The society has been the leading organization for autism for over 30 years and it continues to raise awareness and funding for the disorder.
All proceeds goes towards research and aiding those affected by the disorder. Through their efforts they have been able to bring more awareness about the disease before Congress, which is an important step towards receiving more government funding for medical research to combat the disorder.
Through their organization they have raised millions of dollars, and continue to meet with members of congress and agents within the federal government. This is to aid in educating the government with the importance of medical research along with giving the disorder the extra attention it needs when discussed with politicians.
Every voice count, so let yours be heard. The more people who speak out regarding the disorder, the higher the chance of government taking notice and actually taking the necessary steps towards the funding. Donations are always welcome and can be done through the official website at www.autism-society.org. It’s an entirely secure process and your donation will go towards assisting families living with autism.
You also have the option to have your donation be in the name of someone who has the disorder.
Autism Support Groups
There are support groups and ASA (Autism Society of America) chapters all over the country. You can find these local groups at the website autismsource.org. This website lists all the ASA chapters available, along with physicians and government agencies related to autism.
If you operate a group or organization, you can have it listed at autismresource.org, or if listed you can update your information as well. The search function at the website allows you to search by state, city, zip code and country, ensuring that you narrow the search to as close as possible to your location.
It’s important to get involved with these support groups and chapters to receive all the latest information regarding autism. Most of the chapters are led by volunteers, which can range from parents of children who have the disorder, along with caregivers and other professionals that are actively involved in creating awareness about autism, its symptoms and how to understand and tackle a child that’s suffering from autism.
You’ll have access to Medicaid waiver programs which would first determine if you are eligible. This can vary from state to state, so be sure to review the process for your particular state. Once deemed eligible you can receive help with the care giving for the person with the disorder. Be sure to contact the Developmental Disabilities Council within your state to receive all the necessary information regarding this.
