Meditation is a process of relaxing the mind that leads to a state of consciousness that brings clarity and serenity to one’s life. Over 20 million U.S adults have meditated in the past year. Research on the effects of meditation has concluded that meditation has both physical and psychological benefits and may even be able to change the brain.
FOUR MAIN TYPES OF MEDITATION
Guided Meditation is a session conducted with verbal instruction from a teacher.
Moving Meditation is the act of quieting the mind and directing your complete attention to whatever you are doing at the moment.
During Sensory Meditation the mind is focused on sights, sounds, tastes, scents and other physical stimuli.
I n Mindfulness Meditation the key is to realize that we are not our thoughts, emotions or actions. The focus of the mind is the mind itself.
MEDITATION MAY HELP:
Your brain’s ability to change, structurally and functionally, (called neuroplasticity), allowing you to better control your thoughts and reactions.
To decrease respiratory rates and blood pressure.
To create thicker cortical walls in the brain improving decision-making, attention and memory.

To decrease muscle tension, stress, and pain
WAYS TO MEDITATE WHILE AT WORK:
Leave early and spend 10-15 minutes meditating in your car
Find a quiet place, whether it’s an empty room or a space outside, and turn your coffee break into a meditation break.
Listen to meditation audios.
If you can’t leave your desk, focus on an object in front of you and take several deep breaths.
