Drug problems are tough to get through. It can be hard enough to admit you have a problem in the first place but overcoming drug dependency is even tougher. You can try to go it alone, which usually meets with very limited success; you can try out patient treatment, where you will get plenty of support and guidance but will still be in the same environment that led you to the problem; or you can go into a rehab clinic, public or private, which will give you the best chance of success.
While public drug rehab clinics do a good job, there are several good reasons why you should go private; these five will explain why.
1. Treatment when you want it
One of the most important factors in drug rehab is early treatment. Basically, the earlier you start, the better. Public rehab clinics are busy places, as the drug problem is widespread, and it is likely that you will have to join a waiting list; by the time your turn comes around your problem may have worsened or you may have lost the motivation to seek treatment. By going to a private drug rehab clinic, you are more likely to be able to find a facility that can take you straight away so that treatment can begin without delay.
2. Attention from staff
Excellent as they are, the pressures on public rehab facilities often mean that patients do not get as much time with counsellors, therapists and other staff as they really need. This is not the case in private rehab clinics. There, you will have more access to and more time with the staff you need to help support you in your fight for recovery.
3. Facilities and environment
Public rehab facilities are often located in the most convenient locations for their patients, which are not always the most attractive parts of town. Public funding also means that they run on restricted budgets and that means facilities are not always up to date, are overused and sometimes there is just not enough money for what they need. Private facilities, on the other hand, are usually located in very pleasant surroundings, often in the country, and they have the money to provide the best and most modern facilities. They may have extras too, like saunas or gymnasiums. You will also have a private room and the overall level of comfort will far exceed that you can expect in a public clinic.
4. Treatment
When you enter a public drug rehab facility, you will have little choice about which facility it is or the treatment you receive. The treatment will be tailored to your needs but you will have to fit in with the approach adopted. There are several approaches to drug rehab treatment and private facilities often specialise. You will be able to select a facility that matches the approach you would like to take in your treatment.
5. Privacy
It is always very hard to admit that you have a drug problem. You may feel a sense of shame or failure, or that you have let your family and friends down. Having admitted the problem, you donβt want to have to make the issue any more public than necessary. A private rehab clinic will enable you to undergo your treatment away from any possible or perceived public glare, removing one area of possible stress. Private clinics have strict privacy rules, meaning that you have the best protection possible.
