This can still be applied for in the same way and will take 2 weeks for your GHIC card to arrive and should therefore be applied for in advance.
Can Your EHIC Card Still be Used When Travelling
The answer is yes if you have an existing EHIC card that is still in the state thas can be used when travelling even under the GHIC scheme. It isn’t until your EHIC card is no longer in date that you have to apply for your new GHIC card online in the same way that you did before. This is an easy application process and can lead to your card being delivered to you in a matter of 2 weeks, allowing you and your family to travel as safely as possible when travelling to Europe.
