Having an attractive appearance is very much appreciated in our times. Who doesn’t want to look good and healthy? Having healthy hair is an important factor in one’s appearance, whether men or women. People nowadays, are very much conscious about their hair and appearance but they are sometimes too busy to give them the proper treatment. If you are worried about your hair falling or your hair condition, then you will most likely find the tips below helpful.
Causes of Hair Weakness and Hair Loss
Lifestyle
Stressful life style is considered one of the major causes of hair loss. If stress is reduced or even better eliminated then hair growth goes back to normal. Excessive alcohol intake and smoking should also be avoided. Insomnia is also a reason behind hair loss, so healthy lifestyles and stress free routines are necessary to maintain your hair in best condition.
Diet Causes
Under nutrition or Malnutrition also causes hair loss issues. In order to recover from such type of hair loss one should maintain a balanced diet and supply his body with sufficient vitamins and minerals.
Deficiency of minerals
Lack of minerals like zinc and iron are also responsible for hair loss. Along with zinc and iron, biotin is also an important mineral required for healthy hair.
Drugs Induced Hair loss
Certain types of medication such as antidepressants or anti-inflammatory drugs, along with other side effects, can have a severe impact on your hair as well. Fortunately, in most cases drug induced hair loss is reversible and the moment you stop medication your hair go back to their normal cycle.
Ways to treat Hair loss
Hair Oil
Massaging with oil regularly can rapidly increase the health and growth of your hair. Olive oil, Coconut oil and Castor oil are considered the best. Gently massage your hair with oils twice in a week to keep them moisturized and soft. Oil also helps the scalp to get softer.
Diet
Diet and nutrition play an important role in hair growth. A healthy and balanced diet is necessary to keep your hair in good condition. Fresh vegetables, fruits, proteins and whole grains are “hair friendly”. Certain multivitamins and minerals supplements are also effective.
Hydration
Water intake is necessary, our body is made up of 70% water and so does our hair. Water intake is much necessary for hairs to be strong and healthy and to avoid the loss of hairs due to lack of water in the hair follicles. Drinking plenty of water will keep your skin, scalp and hairs hydrated, it will also increase the growth rate of hair follicles.
Chemical effects on scalp
While cleansing your hair, make sure that you don’t apply the shampoo or conditioner on your scalp for a long time. Clean your hairs with the product rather than the scalp, the chemicals in the synthetic products are not skin friendly to your scalp and hair follicles. Excessive use of shampoos and conditioners result in damaging hair follicles and thus in loss of hairs.
Caps or Helmets
Wearing caps and helmets also have an impact on your hair. They decrease oxygen supply to your scalp and and thus result in hair malfunction.
Washing and cleansing regularly
You must wash and clean your hairs regularly as the dust and pollutants can stick to your hair while your routine works and they can affect the health of them. Wash your hair regularly with moderately warm water is advised to keep your hair in a clean and healthy state.
Avoid Drying hairs using dryer or Straighteners
The heat waves of dryers can cause damage to the hairs. Drying causes your hair to lose shine and dulls their color as well. Prolonged use of dryers and straighteners can result in increased shedding and split ends.
Minimise use of Hair Products
Gels, Conditioners, Hairsprays, Waxes and Hair colors can improve the outlook of the hairs short-term but the excessive use of them can damage the strands and increase the pressure of your hair. This causes hair to break or fall. Hair products can cause weakened hair growth and result in split ends.
Treat them Gently
When combing or brushing your hairs, apply a gentle hand. Forceful or improper brushing may cause hair damage. Also, make sure you don’t brush your hair when they are wet. First let them dry for a while and then you can style them however you want.
Pharmacological Approaches
Finasteride and Minoxidil are medicines that are usually prescribed as a hair loss therapy. They may have side effects as well so they must be used by the advice of the physician.
Pathologic Reasons
If your hair fall is abrupt or without any genetic disorder, then you must visit a physician as it may be a result of some medicine or disease. Several pathophysiological changes cause hair loss so it is best to consult a doctor when such a problem arises.

I’m on medication that has side affects and one is hair loss. I’ve been taking viviscal for 1 month and my hair seem to have a bit more body in it. I have been on medication for 27 years and will probably be for rest of my life. Am I wasting my money buying viviscal.

Hello Sue,
I am not aware of Viviscal, but since it is working for you then why stop it? I read that a 6 month cycle is suggested by Viviscal. You can also complete the first cycle and afterwards decide if you will use it in the future as well. I guess your hair condition will play a great role in this decision too.
