Constant ringing in the ears can really disturb your daily life if you let it, but fortunately there are ways to make your life with tinnitus a better one. 1. Stay Active
Keeping active will not only help your body stay in shape, but it keeps your mind engaged in activity, rather than thinking about your tinnitus. Activities like swimming and yoga are especially good for getting your body and mind in alignment, and reducing your tinnitus symptoms.
2. Reduce Your Stress
The only thing that stress will accomplish is to deteriorate your health and exacerbate your tinnitus. Get a massage, meditate, or take long walks – whatever it takes to keep your stress level down and get more healthy hearing.
3. Watch What You Eat
Certain foods are known to aggravate tinnitus symptoms. Stay away from salt and caffeine, both of which can make the ringing worse. Salt raises your blood pressure, and caffeine is a nerve stimulant which can trigger tinnitus.
4. Avoid Quiet Spaces
The ringing will sound louder than ever if you shut yourself away in a completely quiet space. Instead, try to keep at least some ambient noise around, even when you’re home alone. Try keeping a window open or having a low-playing radio on in the background.
5. Stay Positive
When you have a positive attitude, it’s easier to keep up with staying active and lowering your stress. Rather than feeling sorry for yourself, focus on all of the good things in your life. You’ll feel more motivated to tackle your tinnitus instead of surrendering to it.
6. Avoid Loud Noises

7. Wear Ear Protection
Sometimes you might not be able to avoid a loud place, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take steps to protect yourself. If you’re going to a concert or other loud place, wear ear plugs or other protection to avoid further damage to your ears.
8. Stop Smoking
The chemicals in cigarettes reduce the amount of oxygen that makes its way to your brain. This in turn can affect your ears and cause you to develop further tinnitus symptoms.
9. Take Vitamins
Herbal remedies and vitamins have been known to allow some relief to those with tinnitus. For instance, a B12 deficiency can sometimes bring about or worsen tinnitus in some people.
10. Accept It
The sooner you accept your tinnitus, the better your chances of getting relief.
