Running is not a very loved sport among the lazy folks. As they say, it wears out body and mind. But, those claims come usually before they try running. When they try it once, they simply fall in love with running and become aware how much they contribute to their body and mind with it. So, if the gyms you go to have bored you during the winter and you want to catch some fresh, clean air, then running is the right choice. Running strengthens muscles, increase strength, tells the heart how to tick properly, works as an antidepressant and by running you decrease the risk of osteoporosis and arthritis.
If you don’t have an athletic track where you live, or you do have one, but it is crowded all the time, choose nature filled with trees that very positively affects you respiratory organs. Areas by a river are also amazing for this kind of recreation, but don’t go too close to the water, because during warm days you can find there not so dangerous, but pretty unpleasant snakes.
Don’t start off with a really fast pace. It is best to begin with a moderate, and then fast walk. After about 10 minutes, start running in a mild pace and keep that pace until you feel ready to run faster. Run as long as you can, and then walk again, and then go back to the stronger intensity. It is enough to take an hour from each day and in just a few days you will be like a new person.
Breathing during running, as in every other sport, is very important. If you don’t breathe properly, you will feel tired very soon, you may feel pain in your head and then just stop. So, don’t forget to breathe deeply and you will see how prepared you are to continue.
Running in nature
Your last real meal shouldn’t be about two hours before your run, but you should also consider not drinking huge amounts of fluids. If you didn’t know this by now, then it is clear why you felt that pain under your left rib every few steps when running. But, when you finish you can drink as much water as you can. Avoid soft drinks at all costs.
Get up, go outside and start moving! Listen to the sound of the nature that is calling you to join it or complete your experience with a good choice of songs on your iPod. You will see, very soon you will start enjoying the wonders that running brings with itself.
